It's driving me nuts how much the kids are having side text and snapchat conversations during online classes. It's so obvious that they're looking down at their phones during class. These HS kids are craving connections with other kids and normally during school there would be side conversations. Feeling so torn about taking phone away for kid during the school day.

Phone is in another room while dc is in remote school (middle schooler). Too difficult to focus when text messages coming in nonstop...Plenty to time to 'chat' during lunch, study hall, etc....
Seriously! No phone during classes. Let them facetime friends during lunch and after school.
Totally disrespectful. Phones off during class and if it can't stay off, it stays with me.
I completely don't understand what there is to feel bad about. you feel bad about letting dc be disrespectful to the teacher and other classmates? they are seriously not the boss on this one.
I warned my DD early on that if I saw her on her phone during class, I was taking it away until the class was over. That is not asking too much, whether they complain or not. If they were in live class their teacher would not let that slide, so why should we? They can talk in between classes and after classes, just like before. Just remember that they are not the boss, you are!
+1, dealing with the same issue with DS. Not sure what to do as he starts accusing me that I do not want him to talk to his friends leading to real strain on our relationship :( I just keep reminding him to pay attention to classes and cut out the chat, but its not working.
