@anonymous the prices are Dropping and will for a whole. Lincon Center is closed. Movie theatrea closed. Indoor dining iffy. Gyms in buildings closed if not operatwd by outside vendor. Rentals especially are nosediving in price. And crime is rising if you define lewdness and Public urination etc. definitely a quality of life drop. great time to move.
@anonymous I wouldnt be so mad if I could leave but I can't. I'm mad because quality of life is way down in this area on the uws and it's non-Covid stuff. It's the local government which doesnt care. I'm glad people had a nice time here in a beautiful day. I did too! But my real estate agent friends are having trouble showing apartments. One friend had to show a multimillion dollar home and a man was peeing on the side of the building. Spoiler alert: she didn't sell that unit.
It’s basic supply and demand. A lot more people are leaving versus coming to NY, and there’s still new inventory coming on the market as buildings are under construnction
We're on UWS, agree that it was really nice this weekend., we're near Columbia and it's been busier for a while now. We were hoping that people would leave our building so we could trade up to an apartment on a higher floor, but it hasn't happened, most people in our building have stayed put, and aren't going anywhere.
It's a mixed bag that will ebb and flow. Remember 2008? Remember 2001? Now we are at 2020. Give the real estate 5 years to rebound. If plenty of people are out and about that confirms tons of us are here living our lives. Just like the NY Times real estate section posted a piece on - the suburbs are booming! last June, they recently published one saying - people are coming back!
UWSer here. I agree the UWS is a fun, bustling place to be right now.

@anonymous Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. 😘

I also had a great UWS weekend. Very vibrant. But I have started to see prices dropping on real estate for the first time.
