Has your school scheduled a zoom parent meeting with your principal yet to discuss possible plans for next year? My kids' middle school has one set up for next week and my son's school (high school) scheduled one for tomorrow.
Yes, for both my kids schools, one MS and one HS. Each have had several town hall zooms to discuss plans and options. They are clearly trying to pull together plans without much guidance from the DOE. Disheartening!
There were meetings in June but nothing since they announced their likely fall schedules. I don't think there is much to discuss until the plans are approved.
MS in Brooklyn. They sent out 3 different options, but I assume they need to see how many sign up for 100% remote. More details will probably surface after the deadline.
On the last day of school at our Downtown ES 6 kids of each of my dcs' classes announced officially that they were not returning. Then 1/3 of the remaining families stated a preference for remote learning. They expect that we will be in school 50% of the time.
I was on my child's high school zoom call this evening. It was pretty useless. It wasn't the principal's fault. There are just too many unknowns. My frustration is that the DOE wants parents to decide if they want 100% remote by August 7, but they fail to tell parents what that will look like. The majority of parents and students at our school voted that they wanted the whole school to go 100% remote but the DOE will not let a school do that.
The Doe had a public town hall Tuesday evening with Carranza and they clarified a number of things about remote. You can watch the video on the DOE site.
Yes. ES. Models was presented, some questions discussed and an internal survey sent to parents.
Yes, same for MS and HS.
No. ES. No communication other than forwarded emails from the DOE.
same!!

Has anyone see any data? In our school's (K-8) informal survey, 30% chose fully remote. Just curious what the variability will be.
