Many recent posts about K admissions. Anyone want to discuss private MS admissions? I suspect applications are up, so it will not be a particularly "easy" admissions season.
@Anonymous District 3. Ugh. Will rank either Booker T or Computer school first, then Mott Hall 2, the West End. Those four are all fine. The rest of the District 3 schools (5? 6?) all seem really crappy and I don't even know how to distinguish between them. It's like a game of heads or tails - 50% chance we get one of the good schools, and 50% chance we're f**ked.
@Anonymous I'd like to understand better though, if I like three well-regarded, highly sought after schools I'm not so likely to get any of them, and then I might not get my next tier of schools either if they're full of people who ranked them first. EX) let's say I rank Salk, Clinton, Lab - and let's say I don't get any of them and then I put School of the Future 4th or even 3rd, I'd probably not even get that because many people will have ranked it 1st to be safe... right? I feel like if you don't get one of those top few, then you're likely to end up with something way down your list.
I do! We applied to four downtown schools for 6th. Parents League told me that there's been much more activity than usual, and that waitlists will probably be very active. They also said if you're not looking for FA you'll be in a favorable position (for better or worse), since the schools will probably be giving more FA than usual to their already enrolled families.
I wanted this to be a post about public MS admissions - I need help!
What district? Just rank by true preference and cross your fingers.

I wonder how much FA factors into the decision. Some of these schools say that their admissions are "need blind".
That makes sense. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
