I went to something like Brearley, was miserable. As a result, decided on the 100% opposite - a progressive school for my child. But it's literally the other extreme - they do nothing and learn nothing in lower grades. Spanish is one hour a week of pointless songs, etc etc etc. I am also exhausted by the endless social justice conversations and parent workshops.
Is there a school in NYC that's the middle ground - kind, with a progressive mindset, but also traditional in some ways (ie concrete milestones are expected, there is at least some structure), strong emphasis on languages?
