I think Allen-Stevenson too?
And some of the public schools.
@Anonymous not lrei
I believe that Success Academy is all remote? At least they were a few weeks ago.
The last time I heard about Success, it was that they were saying hybrid only, no fully-remote option, and some parents were unhappy about that. I didn't realize they'd now swung the other way.
I just checked their website and it looks they are still fully remote. A kid in our building attends. I wouldn’t be happy, especially now that the DOE is hybrid.
@Anonymous Success doesn't strike me as a school network that cares overly whether parents are "happy"--it's their way or the highway.
NEST, Spence, Chapin (for now).
Chapin and Spence are both going in person in October
@Anonymous For all grades, or LS only? For a full day?
For Spence, LS is full day every day and MS/US is full day alternating weeks (one week MS, next week US)
@Anon Not true. BASIS Brooklyn has been in person for PreK since school started. K came back last week, and 1-4 is back full time tomorrow. 5+ comes back oct 15 for hybrid.
BASIS Manhattan is now fully remote?! How can they justify that, aren't there only like 9 kids in a grade?!!
Isn't Packer in-person starting Monday? (not a parent there, but have friends who are)
@anonymous they are.
Do we think the dalton petition will accomplish anything? I don’t see how they make the teachers come back after saying remote was the plan.
They claimed they could pivot easily, so now is the time.
Dalton communication has been piss poor
What's the link for the petition?
Keep the petition(s) going! Spence parents organized several and the administration, to their credit, really changed course. They went from saying fully remote all fall to LS in person in Oct to now all grades in person in Oct (details above)
Go Spence! Dalton has been a PR nightmare with the administration effectively stonewalling parents.
Fieldston middle starts tomorrow, Upper the following week. Both are "Phasing in" so starting with 1/4 at a time
@Anonymous fieldston lower and ethical went back full time last Tuesday for pre k through 3rd. 4th and 5th every other week
Is Dalton doing a good job with remote teaching? At this point I'm so annoyed with our school for not starting yet and would prefer kids to be in person doing very little but I fear the "hyflex" model will not be great, especially when teacher is in person with kids and your kid is remote.
Have any schools started the "hyflex" thing with remote and in-person kids in the same class yet? I just don't see how that can go well--it seems like it was designed by people who think teachers just stand at the front and lecture. I hope I'm wrong though!
RL is decent at Dalton, but there's only so much RL you can do with a 5 year old.
Dwight is doing that, it's fine. The classrooms are outfitted with cameras.
Trinity HS is remote until mid October, then one week per grade
Keeping my fingers crossed that DC can go in next Wednesday! Not hopeful that DC can go again in Nov.
so each student goes in about a week per month?
Please update us on how the Dalton petition is progressing! After the Spence one was successful I thought it might get some traction, but then, HM...
Nothing yet and parents seem very divided.
I can't figure out who is to blame. The HOS, the Board, teachers? All equally complicit in screwing over our children.
Allen-Stevenson also changed course.
Nice! Are they going back in person?
Every school is in person except Dalton.
I truly hope that they are enjoying socializing among themselves.
3/4 of Dalton parents are finance and biglaw, not doctors and professors
I hope that they are enjoying socializing among themselves in the Hamptons.
I can't imagine who at Dalton supported this. The families I know, who are across the wealth spectrum, are all upset, especially as they see ALL other Manhattan private schools either back to school or returning to school. I don't think that a majority of families wanted to stay in the Hamptons; the wealthiest of families are quite used to going back and forth and realize that Zoom school is completely inferior and that a TT education is not something that can easily be outsourced and replicated by hiring tutors.. The area around Dalton is surrounded by happy kids going to school every day. I think that a lazy and ineffective administration is to blame first and foremost, supported by a weak board.
lazy, ineffective, and arrogant
