My 2nd grader is starting to exhibit signs of psychological stress/ trauma and the only days he seems back to normal have been the very few when he is in school. I think i need to try and just find another one that's open even if it then has to close. Anyone know of one that has intake at this age and might have spots?
Pine Street School or Nord Anglia May have space
Ethical Culture and Fieldston Lower are supposed to be open full time as of tomorrow for PK - 3. Maybe see if they have spots? Also many parochial Catholic schools (as well as the private ones), and I believe some other private schools such as LREI, Grace Church, HM (but HM has planned to be remote thanksgiving through winter so that isn't great either).
british international. I’ve been getting emails from them
Browning.
Since school might close again, why not find a group of families with whom he can play regularly even if school shuts down again?
Agree. Or, put another way- is it worth the hassle of switching schools if he only gets 2-3 weeks of in-person?
Put him in a pod!

aww poor thing..best of luck! you will definitely find a spot somewhere
Call the Parents League and ask which schools have spots.
Avenues, Ecole Francaise New York, Geneva School, Wetherby-Pembridge, and the Alliance Francaise has amazing learning pods for students to learn online but in a structured, not-at-home, setting. Montclair and NYC I believe.
Rodeph
And now Public Schools are open while some privates are not!
when its $54K and they cant even beat Di Blasio to the starting line it is enormously frustrating
@Anonymous Rodeph has been in session for a month- whatever else you can say, they definitely beat Di Blasio to the starting line.
Saint Savior in Park Slope is full-time for elementary I believe.
Check out Catholic schools all over the boros. Many K-8 are open 5 days a week.
As are many small/non-traditional privates- New Amsterdam School, Roberts Field School, Brooklyn Waldorf, Co-op School
Have you looked at something like what Asphalt Green is doing? They'll supervise the remote learning and then run activities in between so the kids are around other kids and getting exercise and fun. Might help your kid out while you look for a new school? At least it's something? I think I saw someone say that 92Y has a similar thing.
oh that's so interesting!! i'm not sure we'd be allowed to though - our school is pretty strict about what we're allowed on off days.
There are lots of "Learning Centers" like this now. Many still have space. They are great for childcare, socialization, activities, and non-parent supervision of remote school. If your school is not open full time, I'm not sure what right they have to limit your options on other days.
