@anonymous I highly doubt an exception would be made for citywides. The SHSAT is required by law for Stuy, Bronx Sci and Tech unless they have they support in the state senate to change the law.
Carranza said in a meeting last night with CEC3 it was" imminent" but also spouted all of this nonsense about how it's not possible to test kids for sshat online because they would cheat( i'm paraphrasing)..and how impossible it is to screen since there are no grades, tests, attendance as if he didn't create this situation by doing away with all of that. So, it's looking like a lottery for HS.Good luck to those screened schools as they are going to get a lot of kids who can't handle the curriculum and there is no $ for support.
Lottery may not necessarily apply to SHS but for currently "screened" MS and HS they would become "unscreened" and kids/families would list their preferences/rank as they usually do and then there would be a lottery for those schools taking into account preferences (like D15 did for MS). No longer would schools consider grades/test scores/attendance when choosing who goes where - it will all be a bit more random with the idea of being more equitable - which reasonable people disagree about.
Also MS also anything screened....
MS will be lottery except maybe for Citywides.
Why not Citywides? What criteria do you think they will use?

Worst case scenario for families in NY that actually care about education. Now you’ll have the worst of the worst combined with the best of the best.
No skin in the game, but what do you mean by lottery? Lottery of top performing kids or all kids who rank the SHS's?
