I'm not sure what do to with my pre-k DC this fall/year. At most DC is getting class time every other week. I don't care about DC "learning", I understand the importance of play. Remote learning at that age isn't helpful. I don't want too much screen time, but I work. I'm not even sure if a pod option would be workable. Interested in hearing your ideas and plans.
Are daycares considered essential in NY? I would enroll in a PreK class in a daycare. Another idea would be a nanny share with another child or two the same age while you work.
I'm worried that if I'm home with DC it would be disruptive. Also, my issue with pods is that they require a commitment and contract, but things change all the time. What if one of my other DC are home? What if our family or their family needs to quarentine? Then I'm stuck on the hook for money and getting nothing. Yes, I know that everything is uncertain right now, but it still makes me hesitent to commit.
Go out as much as you can every single day. As the saying goes, there's no bad weather, only bad clothes. Let your child help at home (cooking for example) as much as his/ her abilities allow. Invest in a few open ended toys if you don't already have them.
So basically I need permission to work 6am-9am and 8pm-midnight or I could quit my job?
@Anonymous Obviously plan around YOUR schedule. Who watched your child pre lockdown?
@anonymous Sorry, I'm in a bad mood. But it's also not really relevant what I did pre-lockdown. Pre-lockdown I was able to have my DC be physically close to others, and now that's not possible.
No need to apologize! It would not be possible to have a nanny who takes care at least half a day and takes your kid out? During that time you'd at the very least have some uninterrupted time at home for both you and other DC. It's not ideal but at least something?
I’m so sorry , this is fkn impossible. I have a 4 yo and he’s staying home. I’m not sure what to do with him all day, it’s really tough. I’m hoping w everything that this is better by the holidays
