Sorry if this was already posted...
To my knowledge, the only NYC private schools that have announced fully remote are Dalton, Allen-Stevenson, Berkeley Carroll, and Spence. All the rest are at least hybrid.
@Anonymous I don't know that Trinity has announced. I don't think Collegiate has made a decision either. Brearley, Chapin, HM, ECFS, Riverdale, St. David's, Buckley, CSH, Town, Marymount, Nightingale, LREI, Friends are all opening at least in part.
Also CGPS, Grace Church, Trevor Day, Speyer, Calhoun. Basically the vast majority of private schools are reopening for in person school in some form.
It will be harder for other privates to go full remote now that Cuomo has okayed school opening. Parents are going to blow their top about paying $50K for remote when free public schools are hybrid.
As they should.
Dalton decided to cater to wealthy Hamptons families on the board.
Maybe they did. If that's true, it's bizarre to me that those families chose remote school. It's not good for kids to be on front of screens for seven hours a day, and having all the resources and staff in the world doesn't change that basic fact. It's unhealthy. Designed by, and apparently for, people who don't really care about education.
Well said. We are looking at real estate now in the burbs because Dalton has not proved to be the school we thought it was. People who would chain a first grader to a screen for that many hours a day do not care about education. More importantly, they don’t care about the child’s well-being.
@anonymous I agree with you completely, and I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Good for you for looking at other options.
I think another school announced yesterday that they were remote. An NYC "influencer" that I follow (who has a young elementary aged kids) was posting stories throughout the day about being bummed upon just hearing their school was going remote indefinitely.
@anonymous No idea. They live downtown.
@anonymous Who is the influencer?
VCS is, but with a plan for full-time reopening in Oct.
Heard that many other privates are also switching to remote.
Chapin through October?
