I have an excellent physical therapist who is fixing me and DH posture, neck, back and disc problems, really a miracle worker (www.abramsonpt.com). The PT is more about getting rid of misalignments/restoring balance than muscle strength (it is called "myofascial release") - it is positively brilliant stuff (and yes it is safe, with masks, sanitizing, fresh rooms etc.). We are thinking it makes sense to get into physical shape at the same time, to combine with the PT work. Is anyone doing personal training sessions, even Zoom, and do you find them to be worth it in the pandemic? Is a Zoom session a joke? Do you have any recommendations/websites for finding someone good that can make it work over zoom? How much are instructors charging?
Have not done personal training, but I recently got the Mirror and absolutely love it. The classes are amazing. (They also do have a personal training option you can do directly w/ them if you prefer.)
I have continued to work with the person who was my trainer before COVID via zoom. it works well for me but it probably helps that we already knew each other and so can communicate pretty clearly. also I am not trying to lift heavy, for example; in part she is helping me accommodate/ recover from a knee issue. i pay $100/hour session.
I suggest reaching out to Lisa at On The Mend. http://onthemendfitness.com/ Everyone in my family has been working with her and her team before and throughout the pandemic. She specializes in rehab and post-rehab sessions as well.
I've been doing personal training on zoom since before the shutdown. For most clients now, doing zoom seems to be more productive than trying to wear a mask for an in-person session. Most of my clients are people who've finished PT and want a gentle transition back into fitness. Text me with any questions: (914) 563-3026
OP: Thank you for the recommendations. This PT is a little bit different, it is not rehab as much as fixing imbalances/posture etc. (google "Tech neck" and I have some back/disk issues she fixed from my last delivery), so am looking to strengthen the body at the same time.
This is Lisa from On the Mend. Unfortunately, Tech Neck is very common and can be really frustrating. Strengthening the neck, back, and core does help, but you need to be patient with yourself. When I work with clients, I briefly speak on the phone with their PT to find out any recommended and contraindicated exercises. If you're interested in an initial consultation, please text me.
