She only received 2 months prison time.
Didnt felicity huffman get 4 months and that wasn’t for direct fraud in the application process and involved much less money. And more contrition.
She only served 2 weeks in jail.
It sounds about right. Martha Stewart got five months for fraud, but a lighter fine. I think two months in jail is enough to send a message, but 4-5 would have really made the point. The fact that her husband got a longer sentence is also impactful (both as a message to society and as a consequence for Lori and the family).
I think its fine. Nothing is really as bad as her shame and embarassment that she will carry forever as well as this horrific memory , last couple of nightmare years. So the jail sentence is in my opinion - a relief. Hope she gets it soon, so she can be out and move on. Due to Covid, she'll probably only stay in 2 to 3 weeks.
They acted like criminals, no question. OTOH, they get the pain and humiliation of being incarcerated, so the sentence is about right, I guess. The fines will hurt them as well.
oh please. They just bought a new 11M house after selling the other . I found that odd, like why didnt they just rent and lay low until the sentencing , such poor optics.
@Anonymous Why? Because they''re Entitled. And who said criminals were smart anyway?
Think it should’ve been a little bit longer, more like her husbands sentence.
Np: I agree. 5 months was more appropriate for her too.
Definitely too light.Gives the impression that fraud is an acceptable crime.Non- wealthy people probably get more time for writing a fraudulent check.
I think it's fair. Her husband got 5 months. They will definitely feel the pain and humiliation, and 2 months in prison will still be a deterrent to anyone else thinking of doing what they did. I'm not sure that a longer sentence would serve a purpose -- it's not like they are an ongoing danger to the community.
