I like beautiful things as much as the next person, but I also find the ongoing pursuit of material items to be an exhausting hamster wheel. I'm really trying to impart this message to my kids--to be happy and enjoy what we have instead of looking to the next thing and dopamine hit. I honestly internally cringe when I see social media people posting all of their new items/purchases. I feel the same way about celebs starting lifestyle/clothing brands. How are very affluent people still shilling landfill in today's world?
Our landfills are filling. Our ocean is full of trash. Our air, soil, and water are full of microplastics.
Give me experiences over stuff!
