What are you doing with your DC during winter break?
I'm not traveling, not seeing friends. DH will take a few days off. But I can't think what to do during that long 12 days of no structure. DC are reasonably good at entertaining themselves, but not for so many days on end.
yes, we are ice skating one day...out of the 12 days. I might be able to rent a car for one day, but otherwise would be local. I'm not even sure it makes sense to rent a car, because I would be limited to going somewhere outdoors and that is dependent on a good weather day, which is unpredictable.
I'm all for letting kids do whatever, but I personally find when they get too much of it, it actually makes them in a worse mood (thus making things ultimately more difficult for myself)
@MidtownMom Similar here. Teen and tween. I don't notice much difference behavior-wise whether they are on or off screens. Normally I'm very stringent about daily exercise, but I'll probably let that go somewhat for the holidays.
We don't usually travel over the holidays so it will be the same for us--go to the country house and bake, ski, hike, skate. The kids build a campsite in the attic and we don't see them much.
Plans: Making cookies and cocoa bombs, playing board games by the fire, family movies, neighborhood walks
Likely Reality: Fighting, rolling eyes, slamming doors, teens locked in rooms with screens
we'll be home - DH working. Planning on going to lights in Dyker, reserving a few days at museums (if my kids won't come, I'm happy to go alone), Netflix binging of the Crown & Season 6 of Schitts Creek, Experimenting with new recipes.
You and me both, sista.
Thinking about going snow tubing one day. Ski slopes should be open, if you ski. Ice rinks are open, so ice skating another day. That's all I have.

It's going to be a Fortnite/YouTube/Minecraft marathon over here. I simply have no more f**ks to give.

Yes, this will be our household too. I have a 13 and 15 year old. A lot of screen time but I don't care.

+1 the likely reality....all our days so far have been this
LOL! Yeah, that sounds familiar.
You didn’t mention how old Are your kids but if fairly young, some places have virtual camps - kids at art, NORY, etc. it kills some time
They span from 4-9, so while it would work for the 9 year old, not the 4 year old. Thanks for the suggestions.
