I am in a pariah state with high infection rates and am daydreaming about future vacations. DD is 12 and says she is bored when we go on vacation - she wants to spend time with friends. Since We live in a hot climate, our main vacations are winter related (skiing). Has anyone here ever traveled with another family and how was it? i don’t have any friends whose kids are friends with my kids (Wrong ages). How would that even work? Just ask parents Of DD’s friends where they’re going and say ok - see you there?

Can you do a slow buildup to try to become friends with your daughter’s friends’ parents? Or do you have any extended family you could go with that have kids of similar age?
I don’t have any extended family with kids - they are all either in their 20s/30s or little babies.
Definitely don't just follow people on vacation! You could just invite one of dd's friends to come along on your family vacation. It doesn't have to be a whole family thing. There are also certain vacation spots that are more conducive to making friends while there though 12 is a hard age for that. Also, I'm talking about normal times, not in this world of social distancing.
Which vacation spots are good for making friends? I don’t think it would work for me to take an additional kid on a trip with us, we always ski in Europe and its already a bit exhausting.
