Don’t think you should ask for advice on it. People are traveling but any questions on it seem to be flame inducing. Do it if you want to, but don’t expect support or people to say it’s a good idea.
I'm cold and tired too, but you couldn't pay me to go to Florida right now. We have family there and the difference between what they are comfortable with and what NYers are comfortable with is crazy. Also, take a peek at the private schools' covid dashboards right now and you'll see what travel does with covid. It spreads it. Those schools gave people extra time at home post-holidays to quarantine after travel and it didn't work, cases at all of them.
having just toured nearly every private school in one southern florida county I can confirm that this is bs. First and foremost, most of them dont have dashboards. At all, the numbers reported are way lower than NYC.
I'm gonna say something that's gonna draw flames, but here I go anyway... New York has the fourth highest infection rate in the country. Spending time in another state is no less safe than being in New York.
Fake news. Not sure what metric you're using but here's a state-by-state list: • U.S. COVID-19 case rate by state | Statista. It's much safer to stay put than to travel to FL right now, or really anywhere else involving all of those touchpoints of travel. This is just common sense. I keep seeing people posting pics from FL and I just can't help but think: you are so dumb and so selfish ... and so clueless to go and post about it on social media!
@Gramercymom people post for memories. Some people post pics and don’t say where they are. it’s best not to post anything and just do what you need to do.
The source you posted is for all cases since the beginning of the pandemic, which hardly seems relevant for a person making a decision about whether to stay in NY or go to FL today.
Go, it’s beautiful here. Everyone is wearing masks inside, the weather is beautiful, the people are active and happy. The sun is blazing, and don’t ask permission. There are a ton of NY’ers and NJ here enjoying
agreed also in florida. so nice, so warm, everyone in the southern part of the states wears masks inside, you are outside all the time anyway and you can swim and get warm. we know by now how to not spread coronavirus so just do the things you need to do not to spread it.
No hotel, single family home and drive with no hotel stops.
And no dining in restaurants or going inside for any reason. Too many wackos there won't wear masks.
i wouldn’t call it crazy necessarily. Needlessly and dangerously reckless, but I’d probably fall just short of crazy.
shit. I’m so anti travel but it’s all gotten to me. The weather the weariness the work. I need sun and rest. Ugh

If you're gonna go, go now. When the other variants get wider spread it's going to be a shit show.
...and how do you think the variants will become wider spread?
This. Come ON people!
WTF! That attitude is precisely why we have the variants. Stay the fuck at home!

Did you tour Pine Crest or American Heritage? If so I’d love to hear your thoughts please

@Gramercymom Fake news? My source is the New York Times. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/coronavirus-us-cases.html And I stand corrected - New York is now fifth in the country (was fourth when I checked yesterday). Florida is 20th.
