Taking a few tween girls bowling. Should I participate in the bowling or sit elsewhere with a book? Obviously it’s my choice just wondering what you all would do. I know most of the girls fairly well.
Pandemic issues aside, I would probably sit aside or even outside in the parking lot with a book. Kids this age need to start getting a taste of independence and to be silly. But then take them for some ice cream afterwards and talk to them. You learn a lot from talking to your kids' friends and they like knowing you're interested even if they won't admit it.
Seriously? You're taking more than 1 child bowling?? I cannot believe we're down almost half a million people and it's January and people are still acting like this. So, so selfish.
You realize we're not in as restrictive a zone anymore in terms of city and state and federal guidelines, don't you? Bowling is actually allowed. I'm not going but to say people are selfish for doing something allowed by the rules is totally inappropriate.
@Anonymous I don't know how to even respond to this. It's assuming that what is allowed is based on best-practices and care for the welfare of the American people. News flash: It's not.
@Anonymous But who made you arbiter of what's good and what's bad? The only guide we can use is what's permissible. Should there be no carbonated beverages because it's not good for the American people? Should fast food places not exist because it's not good for the American people? Should country clubs be banned because of their historic racism, which isn't good for the American people? The only thing we can do is follow guidelines and laws, and if it's legal and permissible for OP to take her dd and friends to bowl, then she's certainly allowed to do that.
I agree w the above poster. Just because a bowling alley is open for business doesnt mean its a good idea to go, especially with teenagers who may be asymptomatic. I just found out a coworkers 14 year old niece tested positive and she has no symptoms...she was tested randomly for a school event (she is hybrid, half at home for classes). Its not worth the risk
Np I assume these girls are in school together and likely already part of a pod type setting... Regardless their parents obviously are aware and allowing them. I'm sure they'll wear masks, as likely will everyone there. Stop judging. Realistically people can't stay home forever and if op and the parents are ok with the risk them who are you all to comment
OP just returned from bowling. On Monday as school was closed for staff development day. Bowling was every third lane so two lanes closed out of three. Partitions between lanes. Equipment sanitized. Masks required of course. Hand sanitizer everywhere. We went with kids in our pod and kids are also tested weekly for school. I understand the pandemic but as others have said, we all weigh risks and this felt safer than the supermarket, bank, retail etc.
i would just leave them to it.
Don't go at all any of you
Word! Unless you're talking about lawn bowling.
This!

There is a big distance between staying home forever and taking a bunch of teen girls from different families to an indoor party.

OP again, and yes I sat elsewhw to let the kids have fun. Thanks to the posters who said that was the way to go, they were correct.
