Ive been noticing - especially here by some posters - this outsize "demand" for validation of their experiences , whether it's the perception of being talked about, or prodded at for information, or being a powerful relationship disrupter - confirmation of their relevancy and being thought about/ getting a lot of attention from/ by other people (positive or negative attention Seem to be equally valuable). I've also noticed in myself I have an outsize annoyed reaction to those posts, which isn't good - better to just ignore. So I'm wondering - what do you think is causing this "demand" for validation and attention? Why do we need "likes"? and more important - it scares me that that's what our kids are learning - especially if we model it - "likes" and "attention" above all else. Is this social media taking over our brains?? Because IMHO no one is really paying attention to anyone but themselves and if your self-worth is reliant on your disrupter or "likeable"'status ... you're kind of kidding yourself.
