I‘m 40yo and am blessed to have a grandmother that is still with us. She is 90 and recently diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. My mom is incredibly close with her and has stepped up with my aunt to help manage through this time. The challenge is that my grandmother (who spent March - June holed up at home pre-diagnosis in fear of COVID-19) wishes to see all of her family and friends, and my mom and aunt are not mandating in-house mask wearing. I don’t get it. The rationale is “it’s our family and the rates are low in NY”. But they’ve had dozens of people in her home in the past 3 weeks, exposing her and my 90yo healthy grandfather unnecessarily.
