My kids' school is hybrid and tomorrow is supposed to one of their in-person days. I haven't heard update from the school but I think it's very likely it will go remote. Am annoyed that the snow storm is going to knock out one of their precious in-school days!
DC's private school just announced that tomorrow is a snow day meaning that the building will be closed. However, all students who attend full time in person (lower school) and hybrid (upper school) will have remote classes tomorrow.
DC's school is planning on just cancelling instead of going remote. Their reasoning is that tomorrow was the last day of classes before break anyways and there is a fair amount of work for the teachers to shift all plans to remote for just 1 day. I doubt too much real work was going to happen tomorrow anyways and DC has been in school 5 days a week since early Sept, so not worried about her missing one day (I realize we are very lucky here).
to add - the teachers at the school have been working really hard this whole time to keep the school open, so I also hope this helps them a bit and gives them a nice early holiday gift/snow day.
We have remote, which I'm ok with, but I wish we had a little bit of time to take them into the snow. (They have a long day with remote, it is 8 am to 3:30, with just lunch and a small recess).
@Anonymous Yes, most people are in walking distance and we're right by central park so the subway/bus access is good for those who are crosstown or more than a few blocks away (including staff, who tend to be more far-flung)
Yes us too. I'm annoyed. Hasn't the novelty of being home from school with nothing to do worn off? And I still have to work and my employer has had it with "well, I have a bit of a child care situation here."
our private school had a snow day (kids are remote) and I am grateful. We are so done with remote school and it was nice to have something that felt "normal". And we haven't had this much snow in NYC in who knows how long, it was wonderful to see all the kids sledding in the park.
DC's school is remote.
Haven't heard and the kids will drive me nuts tomorrow if that's the case. I have to work

Yes - same. Catholic grammar school in Manhattan

Ours is cancelling school but for the youngers there will be a supervised outdoor program from 9-1 to give parents a bit of a break if they need it
That's a really great idea, is your school largely local? We didn't have a good idea of how to get them to school in bad weather.

Same - closed / private school.
