Does anyone recall the post on UB about how to explain Santa to an older child with doubts and questions? Something about the generosity of Santa within us, and passing on the tradition and the magic... Did anyone save the wording to that? It was lovely.

There's a really great book and I wish I could remember the name. It is a chapter book. It tells the story of St. Nicholas' life and how we keep his legacy going with Santa Claus. It is beautifully written.
YES! I adopted it for myself :) The idea is to take your suspecting child to a special outing and tell them you're going to tell them the secret and magic of Christmas, which is that now that dc is old enough to know -- dc is now old enough to be Santa Claus! Each one of us can be Santa Claus -- it's a way of spreading love and magic and thoughtfulness and joy. Then have dc think of some very unsuspecting person and let dc pick out a Christmas gift for them that they leave anonymously that the person really needs and will enjoy. And then they will get to see that person using it. It's the true spirit of Christmas. That's a paraphrase, but it was along those lines :)
