NYT has an article about the entire debacle, and the Atlantic has issued a lengthy editorial note. Having read the original Atlantic article and the WaPo editorial that raised the red flags, I feel a bit bad for her. Curious to get others‘ take. Her ‘factual inaccuracies‘ amount to the hockey rings in Fairfield County not being Olympic sized, Sloane not having a son, and the bloody fencing injury likely not happening. To me, the thrust is the article and all its attendant points still stand. It’s a ‘juicy‘ well-written article (for that that type of article). Do you take this as a sign of her still being a flawed/dishonest reporter twenty years later or? I imagine she’s mortified. Having grown up in Fairfield County myself, I think she accurately captured the rat race as I remember it and that was 15 years ago when it wasn’t nearly as bad. Please others weigh in!! I don’t know anyone else following this story and want to compare opinions.
