Let's maybe start a thread where everyone answers 4 basic qs to try to get a snapshot of this?
- Do you think or know your work will let you work remotely post pandemic?
- If you could live anywhere, would it be NYC?
- If you are moving or would like to move, then where?
- Has this impacted your plans for 2021-2022 school?
I think both DH and I could potentially work remotely indefinitely. Whether we want to is another question.
We plan to stay in NYC regardless.
One of my kids is in public HS; the other will go to some public middle school next year. Hopefully we'll land a spot in one we know we like. If not, we'll give it a try and see.
1) current word is we will return at some point but to a new office in NJ 2) Not sure - maybe spend more time in 2nd home (commuting distance) and see how it goes 3)N/A already have 2nd home not making it primary for now 4) Definitely not changing schools. Our private is in person more than most and no way to assess if a public or private will do better.
1.Yes (remote work)
2 Yes (staying in NY)
3 Someplace warm and sparsely populated or someplace closer to family. .
4 Not yet but it’s not impossible either.
1. Dh got the ok for perm remote, I did not. 2. We are relocating from NY to FL, I have resigned. 3. kids will transfer to new school in FL
Which part of Florida? Have you chosen the school yet?
Do you mind sharing what field your dh is in that he can go perm remote?
@ Anonymous Ponte Vedra Beach and we are going to stay w the public schools to save money. @AnonMy DH has been working from home in sales most days. I’m in Finance and was given a hard no for WFH FT and an even harder no when I wanted to leave the state. So I quit along with 2 other team members and another soon to follow.
Maybe 1-2 days a week but not remote all week.
Paris might beat NYC for me but in the US, its only NYC for me.
Not moving.
We went to parochial for this last year b/c I wanted 5 day school but we are going back to public next year. I'm expecting school to be back to semi normal but we are taking our chances.
1) Maybe partially remote 2) Yes (even if we could be totally remote our housing costs are low and we prefer living in a walkable City to a car-dependent suburb) 3) not moving, but if we did I would perhaps move closer to family/
4) no change, happy with how things are
Yes at least partially though i do wonder about client mtgs
I DONT KNOW - maybe no? Only bc so expensive and tiny apt and winter cold. But don't know where else - fla vv hot may-oct and southern cali is far from europe where I am from.
If I could literally live anywhere I might do south of france or italy for a while.
We are staying at our private but only bc we dont know what we are doing. I resent paying for it, it did not fully open this year and I am mad at it.
What do you do about client meetings now? Do you think it's important to have them in person?
1) Partially remote definitely, maybe fully remote. Still waiting to hear.
2) Can't ever see us leaving NYC
3) N/A but I can't really imagine wanting to live anywhere else in America but my parents divide their time between Paris and FL and NY so that would be nice when the kids are out :)
4) Two reasons for staying: We love NYC and we love our children's school! No changes there.
