As of now we don’t need to think about when/if schools will close.

Really great news on schools staying open in red and orange zones. https://gothamist.com/news/schools-update-middle-and-high-school-students

But won't they close if they have 2 unrelated virus cases, for 14 days? I think that's the standard. And Im sure they'll come up with something else too.
yeah. Still way better than what we had before.
This will only work with a lot of testing and not letting kids come to school w/o permission slips to test. My understanding is that it was a very small percentage of parents who gave permission to test prior to closing schools.
This has changed. Permission is now required or kid goes fully remote.
Yep, our elementary school emailed that you are only allowed back on Dec 7th if you’ve submitted the consent form.
My kid is in Pre-k and although I was ok with getting DC tested, I heard that pre-k wasn't getting tested, so I didn't bother with the form. But now I've submitted one so who knows
Given the resistance to testing by a lot of parents - I wonder if the #s for blended will drop quite a bit?
I think we'll see resistance to testing drop quite a bit, now that there are tangible consequences to opting out.
I still can't believe that my kids sat home almost all September when the transmission rate in NYC was at 0.5%. Now that it's 10 times that, they're opening up the schools. REALLY?
I know. What a waste. God forbid Deblasio , Carranza and all the exects at Tweed actually do something in advance.
What's today's percentage in NYC?
NY positivity rate with cluster over sample: 6.22%
NY positivity rate without clusters: 4.02%
Micro-cluster zones alone: 4.5%
NY COVID-19 hospitalizations: 3,532 (on Nov. 29)
ICU: 681
Intubated: 325
COVID-19 fatalities in NY: 54
148,974 tests reported, 6,819 were positive
This is New York state. I thought I heard the city was over 5%.

These may be slightly revised the next couple of days, but you get an idea.
