I’m done with current public and ready to pull my sweet, quiet, nerdy, sensitive and really young for his grade son. i am happy to have him repeat but not even sure which schools would be best for a child like him...
@anonymous So of the progressive schools it depends a bit on your sons' personality as to best fit (though they are all more similar than not). Dalton is the most "competitive' academically so need to be strong and confident, EC is great all around -- good for arts, sports, and academics -- but need to be a self starter to be successful long-term, LREI/Trevor very warm and a bit more hand holding, Calhoun is probably the most progressive of the bunch - great progressive pedagogy. Some find it a bit too unstructured. I'd also look at Bank Street, FL, VCS depending on where you live
What grade? What area? Do you like progressive or traditional?
3/4 depending on whether they hold back due to bday. NYC and progressive is better. I know St B or buckley would not be for him...

Reach out to Parents League. They keep a list of schools with openings in off years.
