Ladies, I have just hit 46 and have been having prolonged heavy period ongoing now for 20 days with no sign of relenting. I was reading online that this may be normal for some to have period lasting weeks. Is there anything that has worked for you to ease this stage?
My periods got wonky in my late 30s. Turns out it was fibroids. I'd get checked out for that level of bleeding for that long. At the very least, your suspicions can be confirmed and you can get some options.
I agree. I’m in OPs age group and that sounds not common I’d get checked. It’s one thing to spot a lot but it’s another to heavily bleed that long.
No get that checked out.
Definitely get this checked out. I had a period that lasted 4 freaking months a year ago. It was hell. My obgyn did a uterine biopsy that hurt like a mother F er. In the sample was a polyp or cyst or something. They got the whole thing. The bleeding stopped immediately.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I have been on an emotional roller coaster imagining the worst as in cancer. I am having so much trouble getting an appointment as the obgyns seem to be all booked up until Jan. I got a physician assistant appt and hope she will be able to help me out.
