I know this sounds strange, but maybe take a hard look at what you are focusing on when you are 'parenting'. Sometimes we focus on aspects of parenting that we could probably let go and not enough on the stuff that really matters to the development of our children. Also, you are most likely not doing it wrong. These are crazy times and everything seems a little harder than it usually does and should. Be kind to yourself!
When my kids are sad/upset I feel myself getting sad and upset. I look at DH and how he reacts (or should I say, "doesn't react") and I wish I could be less emotionally invested in how they are doing. It's like I take everything too personal.
@Anonymous I think that is just a symptom of where we are right now. I think the pandemic is making everyone a little bit more sensitive and a little bit more anxious. It is very hard not to take things personally. If it makes you feel less alone, I feel the exact same way. My daughter got into a tiny fight with a friend last night while playing an online video game and I was sitting there thinking that she will never be friends with this person again!! My husband pointed out that I was more concerned than our daughter and that I should just relax. Easier said than done but you are not alone!
