There is no one best. There are OBs who are good for you and what you want. Depending on what you want ask what percentage of their patients have a c-section, use an epidural, use a doula etc.. Some practices can really vary and it is good to do your research and think about what you want (beyond a healthy baby). .Ask good friends if they would be willing to tell you their birth stories. Listen to a variety of them. Birth is a normal part of life but our modern lifestyles don't expose us to it very much. My births were fantastic experiences and each one different. I had a provider who was very supportive. I would suggest a book called Adventures in Natural Childbirth. It has stories from all kinds of births: home, hospital, birthing center, c-section, epidural etc.. I am definitely the read everything type so that is how I approached birth but if that isn't your style ask around and follow your gut but ask about the doctors statistics because it will tell you how much their outcomes match their marketing. Best of luck to you!! Such an exciting time.

I love my OB and her associates - Dr Shulina at 86th & CPW. They deliver at Mt Sinai West in Columbus Circle.
