This is sort of right. Basically people have been avoiding travel for a long time, and want to be able to visit their family in Florida/Chicago/Hong Kong/wherever. The school is tacitly giving them permission to do so by having everyone go remote and avoid the need for quarantines.
it is obviously upsetting but please keep in mind that at least for the privates that have opened those families have gotten some school for their kids as opposed to nothing in person for the DOE parents
agree. our private school hasn't had any in-person classes yet... first full week is planned for end of October (and then every other). If they close for thanksgiving I will scream. But the schools that opened early and are doing remote for thanskgiving have a better plan, for sure.
Horace Mann. Thanksiving through MLK weekend. At least they've planned it in advance so people can make travel plans!
Stephen Gaynor, just announced
FYI Gaynor has been full time in person, opened on time
Riverdale, Poly. Both planned. Riverdale opened early with a "hybrid". Poly has been full time, outdoors
Yikes. the schools that delayed better not do this. Ugh
Oh they'll do it. But they'll wait until mid-November to tell you they're doing it.
In Boston but this is the plan our school announced from the beginning.
This is so crazy to me. I get it, but I also don't get it at all.
I really really really hope our school doesn't do this. What is the rationale Gaynor gave for doing it now?
"Our rich influential parents prefer we do this"

Boo boo. It's a pandemic. It's selfish.
