I'm behind on the Hanukkah gifts, and I want to order from a local bookstore instead of Amazon. I need book recommendations for a 12 year-old girl who likes narrative fiction. Recent favorites were Eleanor & Park and Everything Everything. I can peruse Amazon for suggestions, but I've gotten good recommendations on UB in the past. TIA!
If you are ordering from an independent bookstores, getting book recommendations is one of the benefits. If you are in NYC, go to Books of Wonder and they will give you great suggestions.
Thanks, I did try calling our local bookstore, and I got some young guy who could only recommend fantasy or science fiction, which is not what I'm looking for. Any ideas for a YA novel that isn't a woke suicide/rape story?
Number the Stars by Lois Lowery.
The Fault in our Stars by John Green
For a mature 12 yo, All the Light We Cannot See.
This is an old one, but I think I Capture the Castle is a great book for teens. It was made into a movie not so long ago so maybe it still appeals. It has some very innocent romance.
The War That Saved My Life. My daughter loved this and the follow up book as well. She has re-read both books and listens to the audio book.
