Did anyone watch this last night? What a screwed up family. The most likely killer remains the ex-husband, but Conway seems both insincere and unstable--and too quick to point to the daughter. Barbara Beach has a lot of enemies--disgruntled AA members (who were sucked into the gifting tables), her sister, her daughter and her ex-husband. Lots of possible suspects.
But would a stranger be so full of rage and then cover the body?! I’m now wondering if her son might have had some to do with it given his drug addiction
I just finished watching the second episode. The gifting table thing is crazy. I guess I’m not totally sure I understand—so aunt Jill had a split with Barbara’s gift table; and (sister) Conway and Barbara shared a table, right? So when the whole thing started to unravel (when someone reported it as a scam) Conway and Jill were both exposed. Am I tracking this right? But how would killing her change any of that? They were still going to be investigated and Jill still went to jail. I’m just trying to figure out what the motive was. The dad still seems like an obvious choice because he had a more clear motive, the timing is suspicious and his response is odd. But several of the family members seem weird.
Yes the whole family seems to have different issues, apparently even her daughter is considered a suspect by many.
I think the issue is that she recruited a lot of unstable people from AA and they were the ones who ultimately reported the situation and the reason it was shut down. Jill said several times that she knew her sister Conway was unstable and not a good fit.
Also Barbara was supposed to be a dessert the week she was killed, meaning she’d receive $40k
Her ex husband seems shifty and had a bunch of his own issues
Yes, very interesting! The gifting table thing was wild. I love true crime stuff and have family in Madison (that are the same age as the victim and also very blue blood types) so I’m shocked I hadn’t heard about these scandals before.
I just started watching this last night. So far I like it. Dad seems like the obvious suspect, but then the last few minutes of the episode implied that there was more going on. Very interesting.
Yes I agree. It seems likely he paid someone to murder her, but it was also a very brutal way to do it and implied some level of intimacy versus a hit man would have probably just shot her. I think they said the dna doesn’t match the Dad but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t involved.
