Any recommendations for outdoor dining, with emphasis on safety (not close together, not just indoor outdoor dining.. sealed off outdoor bubbles etc.) yet is still warm (heaters, etc.)? Emphasis on safety/heat over food?
In Tribeca, Locanda Verde and Yves both have perfect set ups (open and well-spaced). I was comfortable with the set up at The Dutch when I went in late October. Maman Soho has a lovely festive outdoor space.
Dined at Scarpetta outdoors. Pricey ($22 cocktails) and a little snobbish ("cannot seat you at 7:10 for your 7:30PM reservation we are busy" although.. uh... plenty of seating!). But the outdoor seating worked well enough in very cold weather. Granted we wore ski apparel lol. Noticed a block away, two japanese restaurants "ON" and "NO" that had these little cheaply constucted booths on the street with same heaters.. not as 'nice', but seemed like could be fun and safe if just looking for something very casual and lots of drinks in a weird "only in 2020" experience (I think it is safe because each booth was sealed, and you can leave door open to clear out air prior to sitting)
No recs, but can I vent about outdoor restaurants for a moment? How is it ok for places to basically build fully closed structures outside? I saw 3 of them today. WTH!
What I have heard is those spaces are counted as "inside" and can also be 25% full, so they basically double the inside space and get the equivalent of 50% capacity in what the originally had. May help some places pull through.
would love more advice on this too!

Just walk around the West Village. So many restaurants down there have great setups outside.
I actually kind of disagree...everyone is way too close together in WV.
Also disagree, think it is much safer north of 23rd street.

@Anon Interesting. I didn't know that.
Benoit on 55th was fantastic. ventilated outdoors, great service and food. Low key as the tables are mostly empty. And of course bundle up!
