Nobody else has said anything, but I have noticed that I slip into "Zoom voice" -- projecting more than usual -- sometimes. Maybe that's it?
I have been doing a few Zooms, but not many. I have always had bad hearing (lots of ear infections as a child) and have always had trouble hearing whispering and Seinfeldian low-talkers. I just don't want to do the old lady hearing aid route yet :(
My kids have been saying the same. I think it's partly due to wearing masks all the time, and speaking louder. So when I'm at home, I keep up the loud talking.
But I'm also starting to think I may have a hearing problem.
OP: I hadn't even thought about the mask issue. That probably is making it worse. But I also think I probably have deteriorating hearing.
during normal times ( no masks, no zoom) the most common cause of sudden loud voice is hearing loss. But at this point, masks and zoom are more likely culprits.
