depends where you get it. I probably wouldn't get it from deli on the corner, but i wouldn't do that not pg either. I ate raw cheese (aged at least 6m), sushi (except high mercury), oysters and medium rare meat and DC is happy, healthy and smart 6yr old.
my doctor never gave me a list of “no” foods. he said no alcohol. I stayed away from raw sushi but occasionally ate deli meat. I did get sick off of a hot dog while pregnant.
Yes this is what I'd do. It's really hard to find real turkey breast and I love club sandwiches...if have them microwave the sliced turkey or throw it in the grill for a
@Anonymous OMG. Must women always have to worry about their weight, even when pregnant? I mean, don't go crazy, but being overly concerned with your weight during this time seems unhealthy.
This. You aren’t supposed to eat it because of the risk of listeria....but my sister craved Italian subs when she was pregnant so she gave in and ate them all the time. You just need to figure out your risk tolerance level.
Deli meat pose a risk of listeria which can lead to miscarriage, still birth and preterm birth. But you probably know that. How much you care is up to you. Personally, even if something is very unlikely to happen, if there is still a non-zero chance that it will happen and the consequences are catastrophic, I usually go with just avoiding the risk. Particularly when avoiding it involves something simple like just not having a ham sandwich.

You can nuke it for 45 seconds to kill any bacteria

Deli meat is high in salt ==> retain a ton of water ==> gain weight.
I mean...she is pregnant...so that ship has already sailed.
@Anonymous Wrong type of weight gain. OBs dont want you to gain more than 25 lb, and water retention can cause other issues.

I mean, listeria happens, though it’s rare.
