I'm in the same boat - but have paid mine half pay through the summer and will reassess in the fall (she only works 12-14 hours/week). I'd really like to keep her, she's wonderful and my kids love her, but I just don't see actually "needing" her anytime soon - though if we are in school some days I could use her even though I don't truly need her. Very confused about what to do.
I posted before - mine refused to negotiate a lower salary while we continue to manage on our own, so we decided to let her go. we Are all facing major cuts and I thought that was pretty nervy.
We would have had to let our (newish, part-time) sitter go, but she ghosted instead! The first Monday school was canceled, she was like... "lets take a break." We paid her for a week as sick time, then half-pay the next week, then stopped. Weeks later she was like "you were paying me those weeks?! thank you." Offered to retroactively put her time on the books, so it would go toward eligibility for unemployment, no answer. Not a word between us since. *shrug*

That IS pretty nervy! Our sitter was beside herself grateful that we've paid her *something - she was not expecting it.
Thanks. She was continuing to contact me to try to stress how difficult her situation is. I thought that on top of it was really inconsiderate.
