I guess that will get the public schools to winter break before the hospitals start overflowing again.
That will get nyc to follow all of Europe who have high positivity rates but prioritize schools
We need to prioritize schools but this looks like another half baked plan from the mayor
The testing logistics alone are a major problem.
Ds is in 1stx he was tested a few weeks ago along with most of his class. I don’t see the issue. They already have testing protocols in place, it will just be more often
Are the public schools testing teachers and students? our public said they’re not allowed to
None of this matters. Once the post-holiday surge arrives, we'll be back on total lockdown.
I agree, I think this is a positioning move for after this surge is contained
It’s too late for this 180
I don’t think it’s too late at all. I’ll continue to be excited until I hear otherwise. Even if we don’t get more than the 1/3 days we were getting before I’ll be happy for any school.
Lol, speak for yourself. Not too late for me!
Meanwhile we are losing 10 days of in person school because he shut down too early, only to finally come around and match up with Cuomo's metrics and micro targeted strategy. They should have been on the same page from the beginning.
My conspiracy theory is that BDB is just saying this so families don't up and leave NYC during the next month. If my kids were in Public, I would have left NYC last week and not come back until this all sorts itself out. That automatically takes so much money out of the local economy.
This was in the planning stages for a while. It was discussed at our school several weeks ago. It's also obvious that the whole plan to have one opt-in period in November was related to this plan.
Interesting that this was somewhat known in your school. seems to have taken our school by complete surprise. Principal sent one email yesterday saying they are overhauling the remote offerings to improve them since everyone is home and an hour later deblasio‘s announcement came and principal had to send an updated email saying this was a complete surprise and they are working on the new schedule.
That is giving the Mayor too much credit. He doesn't think like this. He was thrown under the bus by Cuomo, then the UFT (shocker - they didn't agree with his shutdown!) and every health and government official in the area. This is a political move to try to come out looking good and stop the complaints.
