After 6 years in our house, almost everything needs to be fixed - half the windows, half the appliances, repainting inside and outside, redoing kitchen and bathrooms. We knew that it was a low quality renovation and always knew we’d have to fix it down the line (price of the house was very low so no complaints here). But man, does it suck having to do this now. Any advice?
Do you live there full time, do you have the budget to renovate? Probably best to sequence as much as possible versus one big renovation
I think it would be cheaper to do it all at once.
Ugh so sorry you are going through this even if anticipated - I know a lot of items are on back-order now too because so many people are doing renovations during Covid and factories were idled as well. Good luck... you should order what you need as soon as you can.
I live there full time and have the budget but I don’t feel like spending too much money. I’d rather spend it on something else. I think windows and kitchen plus 1 of the bathrooms are the priority. Lots of things got dirty/damaged when the kids were young and careless, and then when we got our dogs. Not looking forward to it but if necessary it can wait for another year.
Actually there was an article about this in the real estate section of the Times this weekend - check it out
Renovating bathrooms and kitchens are likely cosmetic issues you live with. I wouldn't want to be living through a kitchen reno during a quarantine. Windows can generally be replaced in one day. Save the rest for when you can get out of the house.
