Not me. I don't want to work out in a mask and I fear everyone else's sweat.
I'll keep running in the park, especially now that the NYTimes says that neck gaiters really DO work.
No. I can exercise outside or at home.
Oh, good idea re: Twitter.
That reminds me, need to call Equinox and cancel my membership. Oh well. Owner is a Trump supporter anyway.
@AnonymousNYmom I called the 800 number on the main Equinox website and got someone on the phone right away!
I loved going to the gym...so sad :-( I know it's a stupid, selfish problem.
Why though? Didn't they put your membership on hold? I'm assuming that they won't just start it up again if they can only even have a small percentage of people in anyway. I figured that once they officially open they would give the option of whether to re-activate.
@SuperMom I think they'll bill members as soon as they can get away with it.
But for myself, I can't really imagine spending the $ again anytime soon...now that I've lived without the gym for 6 months, I think I can keep going.
I don’t even know how the gyms in NYC will open. Equinox has said something about signing up for slots - really?? And working out hard while wearing a mask sounds awful.
Temp checks are such theater. Completely ignores the risk of asymptomatic carriers.
Yea, Equinox is my gym and I am dying to go back, and wouldn't mind the reservation or temperature checks, but no way do I want to work out with a mask on for 90 minutes. So I'd rather just wait until I can work out under more normal circumstances, whenever that is.
I'm in Austin and Equinox opened here like a month ago. I kept my account on hold, but a friend has been going and she actually loves it. Apparently classes are limited attendance, they have added classes every hour and the gym is not crowded. Still not for me...
No thanks. I'm not overly cautious about this either - it just feels very unnecessary to huff and puff and sweat and smear and touch in an enclosed space with others. I've been playing a ton of tennis and going for walks and my kids have absolutely been at sports camps all summer, I just don't need to be inside doing that stuff. I've been doing workout videos online and they suit me just fine. Never thought I'd say this as a former Flywheel and Barry's loyalist but I'm done.
Agreed, I used to love Barre Classes, spin classes, any class...but no way is being in an enclosed space with a bunch of people breathing heavily appealing to me now.
Nope. And I'm one of the weird people planning to send my kid back to public school.
How are you weird? Over 70% are doing the same. We are at a private with a great remote program, and I am choosing to send DCs in person.
I’d never go to a gym. Didn’t before covid either, gyms make me feel like a hamster on a wheel. I bike, run and play tennis outside, and we go on hikes out of the city on the weekend.
No way! This seems like just about the most dangerous thing you could do right now. I'll stick to running and streaming.
