DH is involved, etc., but I find that the type of responsibilities we take on regarding the household are different. He does what I would term "tasks," or discrete actions like taking out the garbage, or getting our weekly groceries. I do what I think the NY Times has termed, managing the "mental load". My stress level re: the household is consequently much higher than his, as I'm worrying about many more details and jugging more. He doesn't seem to get the difference in what I do. It's not just that I put in more hours, but it's a different type of work. I'd like a better way to communicate these differences in responsibilities. Just wondering if any of you have the same type of division of labor and if you've ever tried to explain it.
