Hi All, we are considering our private's hybrid start in fall (should it actually happen) but we have the option to go fully remote at any time. Once DC has 'bonded' with his new teachers and classmates, we are considering a move in October to Europe until next summer. DH and I work remotely. DH and DC and I have EU passports from Ireland but are not really interested in living there. We don't have a limitless budget but we're adventurous and well traveled and between the three of us we speak several European languages. Obviously want to rule out Spain and Italy hotspots and go somewhere safe and COVID compliant within the EU. What would be your top choices?

I honestly wouldn’t do it. I am European myself and don’t just hold an EU passport but also spent half my life there. I wouldn’t want to deal with the stresses of moving and setting up a life in a new country. You can ski and hike in a small town in Vermont too. This isn’t the time for an advanced. covid can turn ugly very quickly in Europe as well. it was pretty bad there in March and April.
Yes but if you want to be near good hospitals in case of a surge, I wouldn't rely on Italy's they are in recovery and modernization mode.
Italy used to be hotspot - but it isn't anymore. Not for months. Unlike the US.
I wonder about the time change.
How old is DC? If young, I would enroll DC at the public school in the foreign country. It's not going to be fun for him/her to sit on a computer all day and then not know any kids in your host country. I personally would go to Germany.
What are you looking for? An extended holiday? Work? And why wait till your child has "bonded" only to then have him plucked out of a familiar situation? What are you trying to achieve with that?
