Who will be president? I want Biden, seem like he should win but have PTSD from 2016.
Red Wave !
My gut says Biden but I can't let myself jinx it.
Me too but I was so sure it was Hillary that I cannot
@anonymous I wasn't so sure for Hillary.
I think we are divided as a nation and I fear violence if trump loses Not necessarily in NYC but elsewhere
No need to fear if DJT loses - a safer bet is unrest if JB loses ;)
This is not a political statement - read the NYP article about off-duty police with submachine guns guarding the VIPs who reside at the Time Warner building next week. Funny, bc I sure most of the residents will not likely be there Tuesday/Wed!
@Anonymous Walmart removed the sales of guns and ammo as they were worried about uprising after the election. They aren't worried about the liberals having a shoot out.
@Anonymous Yes those bigwigs at Time-Warner are undoubtedly worried about an armada coming in from Staten Island approaching from the Hudson River Park if DJT loses.
I think it is very difficult to get any type of gut feel. In NYC, I only know a handful of people voting Trump, but in my hometown it's the opposite. The conversation is so radically different wherever you go.
Depends where you live. Staten Island is covered in Trump signs, depending on where in Brooklyn same. But NYS has always been Democratic nominee so I don't think you need to worry too much about this state.
Good article in the Atlantic about the ways pollsters have changed their methods to avoid a repeat of 2016.
Yeah and I still don't trust the pols. Then there is this guy https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-pollster-who-thinks-trump-will-win-11604011863
I think Trump will conduct just enough voter suppression to win Florida, Penn and Texas and he will win. Biden will win the popular vote by 8mm at least, but lose the electoral. I hope to god I am wrong.
I think the voter turn out this year is going to be highest ever on record. Biden is likely to win, not necessarily by a lot. But Trump has lost the white suburban women, and many seniors. The terrible state of the pandemic in many states typically Trump isn't going to help him either (its a hoax from the Northeast or Cali until you know people in ICU or dead). Many people in 2016 didn't vote for Trump, they voted for Not-Hilary and I think Biden will get their vote. Concerned about violence regardless of who wins - whether Trump supporters or "Antifa"/"left".
@Anonymous or. i agree with you about voter turnout, im just so incredibly worried about the uncounted ballots, ballots that arrive late due to USPS slow downs, long delays preventing people from voting day of. if it were a legitimate election, biden would DESTROY trump, but republicans have been working to fix the vote for 4 years and they may do just enough to succeed.
I hope you're right
I don't know, but I am just so anxious over election day and I am normally not an anxious person. I'm finding it hard to concentrate at work. If Trump wins again, I can't take it, I will just lose it on 2020. People around me think it's in the bag for Biden, but I think we are in our own echo chambers. People in my home state, a swing state, have sometimes very different opinions.
It's not in the bag for Biden at all. It's going to be painfully close. At the end of the day, what matters is who actually comes to vote. The media likes to pretend there's this giant pool of swing/undecided voters, but there isn't. Almost everyone is going to vote for the same party that they voted for in 2016 - it's about whether they show up to the polls (or mail in a ballot).
I feel that Biden HAS to win by a landslide or Trump will steal it.
I feel that Trump HAS to win by a landslide or Biden will steal it
@Anonymous Yes, that's the real risk. With the Supreme Court that he spent five years (of his four year term--impressive!) packing with partisans, and a majority of state legislatures controlled by his party, Biden is in prime position to steal the election.
Did anyone notice how in the last 6 months, Biden was winning by like, an avalanche, but suddenly they're neck and neck?! What happened?!!
Same thing that happened in 2016, perhaps?
A lot of the neck and neck polling is BS. They are not close when it comes to polling, however polling does not equal votes by any means.
@Anonymous I don't trust the polls despite that they claim the methods have changed. People lie to pollsters. We saw that in 2016. I don't think that has changed. My hope is that people get off their asses and go to vote instead of complaining. 2016 had a 55% voter turnout. What were the other 45% of eligible voters doing (even with voter suppression, 45%???).
Trump had planned an election night event at his hotel in DC and just canceled it. He knows he's going to lose.
Could be he canceled because it looks bad on him to be having another potential superspreader event
@Anonymous He doesn't care about that. Think of all these maskless rallies he's held this week.
Um I think the Mayor of Washington DC (successor to the infamous Marion Berry) limited the size of gatherings to 250 people or fewer and that's the reason the event was canceled.
My gut says Trump is going to win :-(
My gut says Biden will!!!!
