Guess it will help prevent a surge, give time to the hospitals to treat everyone who catches Covid in the week that school is on. This is just hopeless. Are there any plans to place shields between students/teachers, how will they ensure handwashing & mask wearing? A school also has a lot of ancillary staff - foodservice, maintenance etc. Its not going to be a fun Fall. Guess there is no plan to safely re-open the country, much less schools. We will end up depleting talent pools in the nation. Teachers, students, families will all be at risk.
Your comment doesn't reflect the fact that the virus is at the lowest it has ever been in NYC. Why are you assuming that the virus is running rampant and will infect everyone? Also the data showing kids don't get or spread it like adults do. This is the point that people are missing. The fear is dominating the facts! Pure insanity.
current positive test rate is 1.1% and the virus is continuing to spread in a slow fashion. Kids too get the virus and do spread it. Few kids have even died from the virus and around 70 were seriously ill with Kawasaki like disease prompting the coining of a new medical diagnosis covid induced MISC for kids. Even when asymptomatic and mild, covid can transmit through kids and can have life long impact on cognitive function, lungs and kidneys. I am worried.
Haven’t seen. Link?
I've heard rumors of 1 week on, 2 weeks virtual.

I agree. Death is not the only bad outcome with this disease.
Holy hell. I wonder if privates will follow the lead.
