I’m struggling to stay sane this year as I don’t do well with uncertainty. I’m pretty high functioning I guess as I’ve a good job, marriage and young kids who are doing well, but I feel like I’m adrift and not very happy personally.
Any books or programs anyone has tried and would recommend? I was looking at Brendon Burchard or Jay Shetty online courses
A bit unrealistic to expect yourself to declare a purpose amidst a pandemic , no? You're doing the best you can.
yes for sure, but I feel so restless amidst all of this uncertainty. I feel like I need to improve my frame of mind, but I’m not sure how
When you figure it out let me know. Welcome to the human race in pandemic times.
I don't generally keep a journal, but I think now would be a great time to make a daily diary of what is going on in the world (the virus, politics, climate change, etc.) and how you feel about it. It would be very interesting for your grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will read it knowing the what the future holds for us.
I don't have reflection on whether I have a purpose, but it seems that some perspective can help. I like to learn history with DC and we are better able to appreciate what we do have. I also have a small, daily project I'm working on, and that helps me see progress over time. I agree with other posters that you should be kind to yourself.
Try guided meditation. Two good apps are InsightTimer and Headspace. Start with shorter relaxation medications and try it once a day. Nothing will happen instantly but with practice, you may find some peace.
