I acknowledge that our life isn't perfect (stress of Covid, difficult DC) but I still see opportunities for happiness in our day-to-day, and feel that in the big picture we have so many blessings. Any advice? He says he's open to seeing a therapist but hasn't found one who will take in-person appointments.
Why is DC difficult? Can he find a way to build that relationship. In the end, that’s what I have to most Look forward to. See therapist remotely - waiting for in person sounds a bit like excuse for delay
Autism. He does invest in the relationship but feels like it's a one-way street.
I said the same thing in May/June after being locked in my house for 2-3 months. Almost killed myself. He needs help and a life change plan stat
Can you plan a trip somewhere, just for a few days, so he does have something to look forward to? Maybe an AirB&B somewhere on a lake or a beach for Columbus Day weekend? These are hard times for everyone, and there are good reasons to feel depressed. He also might need more than a therapist, but a psychiatrist for meds. They can really help at a time like this.
why must it be in-person therapy?
AGREE. Zoom therapy is better and easier, esp for a depressed person who is having trouble working up energy to do things.
He's not wrong.
