My kid has been in school 5 days for months. Today was the first day of the new opt-in period, and his in-person group went from 25% of the total class to 29%. A difference of 2 kids.
FT school was open and available. Parents are still nervous.
I think a lot of parents are also lazy. Or moved out of town and don't want to come back for the rest of the school year.
@anonymous I don't see that being true for this particular crowd. Many are from demographic groups that have proven to favor remote learning (asian, black)
everyone has different reasons. Some are nervous but a lot of people didn't opt in earlier because it was a shitshow with in school 1/ or 1/3 and 10 day shutdowns constantly. Now many schools have moved to 5 days but with only 2 months left out of the year people dont want to change their kids routines.
Agreed. It was a rough adjustment for my kid to go from 2/3 to 5. It’s a lot of change for some kids.
