My boyfriend’s ex wants to move to the west coast with his child this fall for a job. The job won’t pay well. He pays almost all of her expenses now. He’s really upset. I wish I knew how to help him but it just seems like a mess.
He can say no. He doesn’t want to control her but he wants her to guarantee fair visitation which she isn’t willing to do. she Won’t even let the grandparents visit unless he is present. I feel helpless in the situation. i want to support him but don’t know what advice to give.
I agree with the poster below that he needs to get a lawyer involved. But as you for, all you can do is listen to him. You can't solve this problem for him.
He needs a lawyer to fight this. They can reach a settlement that allows her to move but she needs to give him a good fair visitation schedule in exchange and a break on support so he can afford the flights.
I’m glad you said that. It was my thought as well. Fine, move away and make it more expensive but then he should pay less to free up travel funds to see his son. I am really trying to be supportive and not a problem. Thanks for your feedback!!
How about she can move, but she can't take the child with her. Would your BF want primary custody? And then he can grant her reasonable and fair visitation
Doesn't he have any custody rights as the dad?
