So after avoiding Covid for all this time, I finally got it. I'm on day 5 and still testing positive and exhausted which I know is normal but I'm just feeling kind of dejected after hearing from so many friends how they had mild cold symptoms and were negative on day 4. For anyone whose had it recently- how many days til you tested negative on a rapid? (I'm double vaxxed and boosted but in November so I'm guessing it's not doing much at this point)

I'm the OP- to clarify I am very much of the it was inevitable to get it camp and felt nothing but relief initially- I'm still glad to have it over with for now but it has been a little worse than I expected honestly so just feeling a little down
My (vaxxed) daughter had it recently and tested positive on Day 5 but negative on Day 8 (didn’t test in between).
ok that gives me some hope for a negative test in a few days! fingers crossed- hope your daughter is feeling better!
DH's coworker felt bad (flu-bad plus loss of smell and taste) and tested positive for over a week, sorry! she has fully recovered since then. she is under 35.
We just went through this! We did a lot of rapid tests bc elderly parents live nearby and I wanted to be 100% in the clear before we saw them. Only my 12 year old was negative by day 6. DH and my older kid were more like day 7-8. It was longest for me - my rapid wasn't negative until Day 12. I was so annoyed.
Day 8 for me, vaxxed and boosted. I was testing everyday because I really wanted to get out of quarantine and back to my office - hard to work from home for me.
OR - oh, DH never tested negative. Was in quarantine all 10 days.
OP- Thank you all so much for the helpful responses! Makes me feel like it's normal to not be negative on day 6- I'll try again in a few days! Hope everyone's feeling better
I was still testing positive with a bright dark line on day 8/9. I stopped doing rapids at that point, but I was pretty sick with lingering symptoms for at least 2 weeks. Am faxed and boosted.
We just went through this. DC and DH tested positive (DH dark line, DC barely visible). DC had no symptoms, DH had bad cold with low grade fever one evening. I kept testing negative for 6 days incl. PCR. Felt slightly congested around day 4-5 but if it wasn’t for DH and DC being positive, I would have assigned it to seasonal allergies. Fast forward to day 8, I tested positive (the two of them were negative by now). No symptoms. Day 11 (three days after my positive test) , I tested negative.
Isn’t the protocol to end quarantine after 5 days regardless of test
@Anonymous no- that is for essential employees who are needed back at work. It was a move to keep the economy going during the height of omicron
@Anonymoose that is correct but everryone has just adopted it because it is easy to apply. notably it was detemined based on Delta , which did not linger as long as Omicron so isn’t even that relevant . Yes it persists.
and it also isn't supposed to apply if you are symptomatic.
