Has anyone heard of or work for a company who is doing this? With my kids remote or hybrid in the fall and being expected to be 9 hours a day in meetings I want to suggest an option to my company as I can't afford to add childcare costs into the mix and I don't think they will be able to reduce my workload. Wondering if I can reference any other examples
Oh hahahahaha very funny. No. I resigned and I’m sure many many other families Will need to do the same. Sad state of affairs. I resigned because Sept thru January is an overwhelming shit show in finance , I can’t do it.
My friend works for Hearst, they contract with Bright Horizons (I think) for childcare, and they sent out a mailing about how that childcare was available for workers who are parents to use. I'm not sure if it's subsidized or not.
Interesting. My employer has also used them as backup childcare but not sure how it would work now. It used to be for the occasional sick day or day school was closed, now people basically need it M-F, Sept-????. At that point, better off hiring a nanny/school supervisor/pod -- as many are.
I think it would be smart for some companies to cover it. Certainly they don't need to but decreased productivity is what's happening now, and if you want to get ahead of the competition, you might increase productivity by offering this benefit. Question would be how -- a voucher? Reimbursement of nanny costs? Actually organizing company pods?
@Anonymous agree - even like $200 a week would make a huge difference to employees who are trying to work full time while taking care of their kids.
Red Ventures is offering both flex time, 1 day off per month and childcare subsidies for their employees through the end of 2020.

My job is offering childcare funds for employees with combined HHI <150k or so.
