Planning on buying a car this spring. Also will probably TTC 1st DB in the next few years.
Have mostly been looking at smaller city-friendly cars like the Honda Fit, Subaru Impreza, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson. Frankly the latter two seem on the large side IMO but I know they fall in the “compact“ category. It seems like reviewers online do a lot of complaining about fitting car seats in these and claim it’s nearly impossible with anything smaller than a RAV4/CR-V. I find this hard to believe given how popular compact cars are in kid-friendly brownstone Brooklyn but also don’t want to make the wrong purchase. What compact cars have worked comfortably for you with 1 car seat? Looking at hatchbacks/crossover SUVs.
I am sure they all work. Our first car was a 2 -door convertible. Car seat fit fine, but getting it in and out was a pain. That wouldn't be the case with even a small 4 door SUV. Buy what you like.
ONE car seat? This isn’t even a problem in my Prius.
We fit 2 car seats comfortably in a Subaru Impreza. As long as you're not having anyone actually sit in the middle seat, it's no issue at all.
