I know, it's like one thing after another. We can only hope that getting everyone vaccinated will beat back this thing. That's why we really need to move it move it on getting shots in arms.
What does that mean, new strain? Is it unresponsive to the current vaccine? Just more contagious? requires longer time to recover / longer quarantine after potential exposure? Is it undetectable with current swab test?
The more transmissible strain that originated in the UK will become more predominant bc it’s easier to catch. Otherwise is not different in terms of how sick you can get. No longer recovery or longer quarantine time. Just more transmissible/contagious. Is detectable by the regular old test.
@Anonymous But we don't know if it's responsive to the vaccines that were developed for the original strain. I feel like this could seriously just end the human race. It could just keep mutating and mutating and becoming more and more and more deadly until only the very strongest of us are left. It's like some crazy horror movie except it's 100% real :(
The news is that something we are not as well equipped to address will be the major thing wiping people out in approximately 30 days. Sorry, but that's definitely real news.

I know. I know. Keeps getting worse and worse. I am bracing myself for my kids spending all of middle and high school in their tiny bedroom.

Yes we do, and it is.
That’s how it works. The more quickly transmissible virus will win out. It’s evolution. This isn’t news. But take heart- the vax still works!
But if the virus is twice as transmissible, won't it take twice as long to see the impact of vaccination?
And apparently kids are getting sick more frequently from the new strain. There won't be a vaccine for them until 2022.

@Anonymous Oh god. I really can't. I'm just going to say f**k it and get sick and see what happens.
